Teaching Methods
Lectures (30 hours) with detailed exposition, using visual aids, concepts, principles and theories and to solve some practical exercises that meet all the needs of students with guidelines on the matter. Tutorial lessons (22.5 hours) to answer questions. Assessment: written examination (100%) or written examination (50%) and written work with oral presentation (50%).
Learning Outcomes
The aim of this course is to give students the framework for the analysis and design of timber structures and their components. To describe the additional concepts regarding properties and performance of timber as a construction material as well as their specificities and to develop an awareness of significance of timber as a traditional structural material. This curricular unit has also aims to transmit some guidelines for the modelling of timber.
