Learning Outcomes

The aim of this course is to deepen the knowledge of buildings built in the period before the appearance of reinforced concrete, that is, buildings made up of predominantly natural and little-transformed materials, such as stone, lime and wood. These buildings have very particular behaviors that are necessary to know in detail so that it can proceed with their rehabilitation in a correct and durable way.It is then necessary to obtain a correct knowledge of the object in which to intervene and, therefore, this course will start with the constructive characterization of old buildings. It is also intended to transmit some knowledge about the most common anomalies in old buildings that differ, in some way, from the anomalies normally present in recent buildings. It is also intended to address the criteria for the resolution of constructive anomalies and the methodologies for the rehabilitation of buildings, with the specificities they encompass.
