Teaching Methods
Theoretical component: using audiovisual means to facilitate the understanding of concepts and methodologies. Students will participate in lectures, through its intervention or, occasionally, by presenting subjects within the discipline syllabus.
Practical component: application of theoretical knowledge to practical cases, by solving problems.
Tutorial support in problem solving, and in preparation of the report.
Learning Outcomes
A) Raising awareness the students on the need to integrate the methodologies of quality, safety and environmental management in the profession.
B) Provide the students with knowledge of the requirements of the quality, safety and environmental managements systems and of their methodologies.
C) Provide students with skills to undertake the planning of quality, safety and environment in a professional context.

1 - Presentation of concepts "Quality", "vulnerability" and "risk". Risk management methodologies. Different roles and responsibilities of stakeholders on safety, hygiene and health at work.
2 - Introduction to quality management methodologies and their historical evolution.
3 - Legal framework on safety. Planning security in the context of construction.
4 - Presentation of models of quality, safety and environmental management systems specified by ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 Presentation of the requirements of the standards ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001. Brief presentation of ISO 9004. Presentation of the 8 principles of quality management.
5 - Integration of quality, safety and environment functions. Brief presentation of the Portuguese Quality System. The certification process of an organization. The Construction Products Directive and the CE marking
6 - Conducting a practical exercise of planning the quality, safety and environment.
