Teaching Methods

The classes aim to introduce the new themes to the students, in a way not only expository but also demonstrative, always fostering interactivity and reflection. At the end of each module will be presented and discussed practical cases, for training of argumentation and ethical deliberation.

Assiduity will be controlled; in order to successfully complete this curricular unit, it must be present in 3 of the 4 modules taught.

The final evaluation of this curricular unit will be done through a written evaluation test - 100%.

Learning Outcomes

With the frequency of this course it is intended that the students acquire the following knowledge and skills:

• know the basics of bioethics, medical ethics and deontology

• analyze the diverse currents of thought of bioethics

• perceive the process of ethical deliberation in medical decision-making

• integrate respect for patient autonomy in the relationship between the health professional and the patient

• know communication techniques useful in the health-sick professional relationship

• understand the concept of Narrative Medicine

• integrate high ethical standards in health care delivery.
