Teaching Methods

Learning in small groups of 2-4 students in laboratory or clinical research environment. Practical learning, performing non-simulated laboratory experiments or clinical acts in the presence of an expert investigator in the techniques taught.

Learning Outcomes

This course unit aims to bring the student closer to laboratory research and experimentation in the area of basic and clinical Neurosciences, namely:

a) Know and explain the fundamentals of different techniques and / or laboratory or clinical methodologies;

b) Contact the chosen techniques through the performance of some laboratory experiments or real tests;

c) To use the scientific method in the answer to the formulation of questions in basic Neurosciences and / or applied to clinical problems.

Not specifically defined. The student may choose to perform laboratory rotation in any laboratory or unit of the research centers (e.g. CNC, iCBR) and clinical (e.g. CHUC) associated with the University of Coimbra, focusing on basic, translational or clinical sub-areas of Neuroscience, according to the selected laboratory. The student will contact with several current methodologies and techniques, as well as different thematic approaches in Neuroscience.
