Recommended Prerequisites
Scientific knowledge in the area of research, having completed most of the areas of the 1st year of the MSc; skills of oral communication and academic writing.

Learning Outcomes
This Course has as main objectives the acquisition of knowledge and skills in real working environment, where the student can interact with the various professionals from multidisciplinary teams of clinic laboratory Genetics and understand the laboratory dynamics
The goal is to a more professional environment that will give the student skills for the future integration into similar teams.
After completing the Course, students will be able to:
-interact and understand the main responsibilities of the various elements of the clinic laboratory Genetics teams.
- give valid suggestions and integrate into the team, using the knowledge previously acquired in the first year of the curriculum.
-understand the ethical issues underlying the different work environments.
-plan activities to evaluate and resolve clinical laboratory cases.
The work is personal and the student must show work capacity, autonomy and prepare, write and publicly defend a final internship report, following the template.

The syllabus will be adapted according to the themes of research/laboratory rotation of students and the institutions in which the activity will take place. These can occur in the laboratory service providers of the Faculty of Medicine of Coimbra (Laboratory of Cytogenetics and Genomics, Lab of Hemato-Oncology, Sequencing Lab), genetic laboratories of CHUC (Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Coimbra), other national institutions (as for ex in the Faculty of medicine, University of Porto, Institute of Medical genetics, Porto, Institute Ricardo Jorge in Lisbon) and in genetic laboratories in international institutions.
