Recommended Prerequisites

Knowledge of biology, biochemistry in the pre graduate cycle of courses in the scope of Biomedical Sciences.

Teaching Methods

Theoretical and theoretical-practical classes will be used powerpoint presentations, handouts / articles / or other material that the teachers understand to be the most appropriate with theoretical contents related to the objectives of the UC. Sessions will be organized to present mini-projects prepared by teams of students in order to contribute to the development of skills in this field.
The test will be carried out according to the specific pedagogical objectives of the CU and the number of questions will be representative of the importance of the subject to be evaluated and the number of hours taught in each topic.

Learning Outcomes

Discuss the concepts and functions of laboratory management

Analyze the concepts of accreditation and certification, discussing the different underlying rules and regulations;
Discuss and analyze stock and archive management and its specificities in a clinical genetics laboratory;
To discuss the importance of biobanks in health and their specificities in the field of genetics;
Analyze the safety and hygiene aspects and good laboratory practices;
To evaluate the importance of the pre- and post- analytical phases in human genetics and its repercussion;
Discuss the organization of health systems and the impact of management on the patient and health professionals;
Discuss different aspects of science and health communication and teamwork, contributing to the need to develop skills in this area.

Students will prepare and submit a small project within the UC, being evaluated beyond content, communication skills and teamwork: 40.0%
The evaluation consists of a multiple-choice questions and/or others question types : 60.0%
