Learning Outcomes

PhD students will carry out research work for the drafting and presentation of a dissertation dedicated to any of the main topics of Film Studies and corresponding to a variety of possible research interests: critical approaches (film analysis, film theories, film culture and history, genre studies, cultural identities), American cinema (history, industry, society, film genres, authorship, star system), national cinemas (Anglophone, South-American, European, Asian, African cinemas). PhD students must show work, innovation, independence, and critical thinking skills resulting in an original research work that offers an important contribution to the fields in question. The dissertation may consist of a reasoned and theoretically expounded presentation of one or a series of creative assignments offering a contribution to the evolution of knowledge in this field (Law 74/2006/annex Decree-Law 65/2018).
