Teaching Methods
Tutorial with systematic orientation of the activities that have been properly planned and whose implementation is structured through a timeline whose execution the student should follow rigorously; discussion seminars between students whose projects address related issues or similar/complementary methodologies.
Learning Outcomes
Objectives: develop specific skills for design, development and implementation of research projects; provide critical thinking through a shared analysis and supervision of the development of different research projects (in collective contact hours) conducting to the elaboration of an individual research project for each student.
Learning outcomes: the student should be able to 1) formulate a research problem, 2) conceive the research objectives and design; 3) propose the adequated methodologies to be used both at the stage of data collection and data treatment and analysis; 4) identify the expected results and 5) submit in writing and orally discuss their research project.

Conceptualization and planning of an empirical research project in its various steps, both in theoretical and
methodological terms; being aware of principles and rules of research as well as ethical and deontological aspects
1. Identification of a research problem;
2. elaboration of the theoretical framework; bibliographic oriented search and its critical review;
3. definition and rationale of the objectives;
4. detailed description of working plan - design and methods; ethical aspects;
5. description of the expected results; implications to the knowledge development in the scientific domain of the doctoral program;
6. writing the final project following FCT rules for project's submission.

Written presentation of the research project and its oral discussion with a jury composed by three professors (one external, two of the doctoral course). Its approval and a required minimum of 14 points grade will allow the student to continue with the implementation of the project in view of the preparation of their doctoral thesis and, consequently, to the final submission to doctoral degree.: 100.0%
