Teaching Methods

Expository-teaching methodology: presentation of research themes and models with exemplification of ongoing investigations; discussion groups calling for critical analysis; relevant bibliographic search carried out autonomously by the students followed by group discussion to explain the knowledge acquired.

Learning Outcomes

This mandatory UC, allows students to opt for sub-themes to achieve deepening of knowledge, conceptualization and investigation concerning Family resilience and Vulnerabilities in a direct manner and towards specific research interests of each student. Objectives:

1. know in depth themes in the field of clinical psychology associated with the problems and disturbances that promote family risk both contextual and developmental;

2. investigate and identify the processes and variables associated with individual and family resilience, through which families and individuals adapt to problem situations;

3. understanding and critically evaluate research produced in the field, points on which should be able to express both in writing and orally;

4. develop skills for designing and implementing scientific research in this field.

Module I -Parenting

1-Parenting styles and attachment throughout the family life cycle

1.1. Critical perspective on the theory of attachment.

1.2. Background to attachment quality in childhood: from diadic relationship (Parenting Styles) to ecological determinants.

2-Parenting: family and parental roles-from concept to evaluation

2.1.Parenting in different family situations (divorce, single-parenthood,family reconstitution, etc.)

2.2. Adoptive Families – singularities in family identity formation.

Module II - Couplehood

Marital Satisfaction and Quality - resilience and stress factors

2.2. Sex and gender in couple – diversity and complementarity

2.3. Bicultural couples

Module III – Specific family situations of vulnerability

3.1. Chronic conditions and family health (physical and mental)

Phases of chronic disease and its impact on patient and family (adaptation tasks)

Psychosocial implications of the disease:
