Observation and Experimentation in Biology.

Teaching Methods

The teaching will be by transmission, inquiry and problem solving in order to have an active participation of the students in the teaching and learning processes. Discussions on the role of Education and Science Education in sustainable development and importance of the ethical dimension associated with the environmental crisis will be promoted. All the activities will be presented orally and in writting. All the lectures are designed to promote the critical analysis, creativity and concern with scientific rigour and quality of the oral and written communications.

Learning Outcomes

In this curricular unit, the students should keep on to consolidate and/or deep and apply the knowledge on the Biology domain, and make critical reflections on the teaching and learning processes. It also aims to provide the students with the skills needed to teach the syllabus of Biology in Secondary Education, through the knowledge and implementation of pedagogical-didactic methods.

The students should:

1. Have the skills to search, synthesize and communicate new information, ideas and problems;

2. Have the skills to adapt to new situations/methodologies/technologies;

3. Have the skills to use appropriate materials and communication tools;

4. Know how to draw up medium-and short-term planning related with the Biology syllabus of the Secondary Education;

5. Know how to build concept maps and Gowin's Vee;

6. Know the basic principles related with Bioethics.
