Recommended Prerequisites

The knowledge acquired resulting from the approval in 60 credits of the Credit Units that constitute the academic part of the Master Degree.

Teaching Methods

Prior elaboration of the Work Plan, as a reference document that allows to fix the project theme and will be the central point in the discussion with the Advisor, constituting the first moment of approach to the object of study and clarification of the objectives of the project.

Autonomous work of the student under the supervision of the supervisors.

Learning Outcomes

Preparation of an original work of scientific nature, involving analysis of new situations, collection of pertinent data, development and selection or design of methodologies of approach and resolution of the problems arised by the proposed theme, the exercise of synthesis and conclusions. The skills to be developed are: Ability to manage data and convert them to information; Ability to organize and plan; Ability of analysis and synthesis; Critical reasoning ability; Ability to solve problems; Ability to understand the language of other specialists; Ability to communicate with persons that are not experts in the field; Ability to investigate; Ability to learn autonomously and oral and written communication; Capacity for initiative and entrepreneurship. Ability to adapt to new situations.

Syllabus

A list of topics will be available to students from July to September. Each Dissertation may have one or two supervisors. One of the supervisors has to be a DCT-FCTUC professor or researcher. The other may be from the FCTUC or external, and must be a doctorate or be an expert in the field of the theme of the dissertation and he/she must recognized as such by the Scientific Committee-DCT based on the analysis of his/her curriculum. Proposals for dissertation topics should include: Title; Guidance (s) with indication of the percentage (s) (minimum of 20% for each supervisor); Goals; Requirements - e.g., average, completed subjects, bibliography, etc .; Comments. The Specialization Area (or Areas).
