Recommended Prerequisites

General knowledge about geology, mineralogy and petrology.

Teaching Methods

Theoretical-practical classes: exposition and criticism, using mainly audio-visual means, of documents on the Regional Geology. Analysis of situations that illustrate and exemplify reference cases. Incidence of the ability to observe and interpret at various scales. Manipulation of geological and tectonostructural analysis and interpretation techniques

Field lessons: observation and recording of geological and mineral occurrences, with teacher accompaniment

Laboratory practices: study of metallic minerals and textures using a reflective light microscope.

Learning Outcomes

A) To analyse and synthetize of the geological region that is the object of the edition of the course;

B) To study the geological materials, their characteristics, their conditions of formation/deposition and concentration, their evolution and their organization in the regional tectonic framework and in a universal chronostratigraphic scale

C) To characterize some problems of the geological organization, inserted in the evolutionary context and in the global tectonic framework

D) To recognize and understand the principles that rule the natural concentration of metals in the Earth's crust

E) To characterize and identify metallic minerals using appropriate field and laboratory methods and techniques.

Work Placement(s)

No
