Teaching Methods

Task-based methods, involving the active participation of students and individual, pair or group work. Students will be faced with communicative situations related to everyday life, which will enable them to gain confidence in the use of the language.

Learning Outcomes

This intensive course will prepare students to reach an elementary level of proficiency in Italian, acquiring comprehension, production and interaction skills corresponding to CEFR level A2. They will be able to

– understand short and clear sentences and frequently used expressions and vocabulary related to familiar subjects;

– read and understand simple, short texts and personal messages about everyday matters;

– communicate in routine situations requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar matters and participate in conversations even if they don’t understand everything perfectly;

– produce basic expressions and utterances about personal matters or concrete needs;

– write short and simple texts about topics that are familiar or of personal interest.

Syllabus

Classes address communicative situations and contents that enable students to acquire language skills and knowledge compatible with CEEFR level A2: personal introduction; forms of address; writing letters; daily routines; accepting/rejecting proposals/invitations; interacting in public places; expressing agreement and disagreement; asking and giving information.

VOCABULARY: countries; jobs; alphabet; numbers; telling the time; public services; wheather; space; food; colors; family; university life; clothing.

GRAMMAR: personal pronouns, definite and indefinite articles; subject and verb concordance; demonstrative adjectives; interrogative pronouns; simple and contracted prepositions; possessive pronouns; direct and indirect complements; verb tenses in the indicative (Presente, Passato prossimo, Imperfetto e Futuro semplice) and imperative.

CULTURE: Polite forms of address; tourism; public services; society; leisure activities; family; Italian cooking.
