Learning Outcomes

The objective of this course is to enable students to understand concepts of ecological landscape management especially designed for conservation of biodiversity in rural and woodland regions. They learn toassess the effects of different landjuse systems on biotic and abiotic components and develop suitablemanagement strategies and conservation measures. Students are able to link basic ecological knowledge toissues of environmental management.

Basics of species and habitat protection, field methods (habitat mapping, recording indicator species), historical landscape analysis, interviewing local experts and stakeholders, creating solutions for a given task inthe field of ecological landscape planning and defending their ideas towards the concerned local audience.
