Recommended Prerequisites

Those required to integrate the MASTER IN OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH - Bachelor's, Master's, Doctor's degree, or legally equivalent qualification, in the areas of Medicine, Dentistry, Health Sciences, Nursing, Psychology, Engineering, Health Technologies, Ergonomics, Work Safety. Occupational Hygiene and Safety technicans. Students of 2nd or 3rd cycle courses in the mentioned areas. Academic, scientific and professional curriculum.

Learning Outcomes

- To understand the relevance of psychology to occupational health and the contributions of occupational health psychology in the current context of work.
- To value the contributions of psychology and social sciences to an integrative and adaptive organizational behavior (OC).
- To know the main areas of individual differences and their implications for the CO.
- To understand the interactions between work, stress and health.
- To know symptoms and signs, causes and consequences and strategies to prevent burnout.
- To recognize the work-family balance as a collective challenge in today's society and the impact of gender inequality in its relationship with health and well-being.
- To know types of violence at work, to know their (individual and organizational) risk factors and consequences and prevention measures.
- To develop positive communication skills; to understand its centrality in the humanization of work.
- To critically analyse theories and types of leadership.

- Introductory aspects: psychology in context; occupational health psychology; organizational behavior
- Individual differences and occupational health: perception, emotion, personality, motivation, intelligence – from concepts to applications.
- Work, stress and health: models of work stress; stress, health and illness; work stress factors; burnout; health promotion at work.
- Chronobiology;
- Assessment of psychosocial risks;
- Work-family reconciliation: predictors; relationship with stress and burnout; relationship with gender and mental health; good practices.
- Aggression at work: harassment, bullying, physical violence; individual and organizational predictors and consequences; relationship with health and well-being; prevention.
- Positive communication at work: verbal and non-verbal communication; communication skills and barriers; conflict prevention and resolution. 

- Leadership: theories; responsible, positive and compassionate leadership; gender and leadership.
