Recommended Prerequisites

- Knowledge and skills that students should master before starting this course:

A. Knowledge:

We assume that our students have a basic knowledge before entering this unit that is sufficient to apprehend their content. These bases include the following:

- Chemistry - Knowledge of chemistry enabling the understanding reactions of formation and transformation of compounds associated with environmental determinants;

Physics - Physics knowledge making possible the understanding of transport mechanisms of pollutants;

Biology - Special knowledge of microbiology associated with microbiological cycles and maintenance and disinfection procedures in installations, networks and systems.

Teaching Methods

Exhibition and exemplary method , using power point presentations corresponding to each of these points.

Presentation and discussion of cases and examples whenever possible .

Presentation of documents and reference literature for complementary training , and bibliography available in pdf's of the documents.

Indication query sites mentioned including by reference entities (WHO , APA , DGS , ACT, SLIC ICNIRP).

Learning Outcomes

To establish the interaction between environment and health and evolution of the concept of health and environmental factors that condition, identifying the framework for environmental health in the context of public health (the Brundtland Report to the Budapest Conference) , due to the environment interaction / health, and the WHO guidelines on environmental health

Define the environmental determinants and environmental impact assessment in support of environmental determinants of health, and evaluation of health impacts, and applying the criteria developed by WHO for its definition and formulation of public policies and harmonization with the associated exposure policies arising from work activities .

It is intended to identify risks, complementary and multidisciplinary approach in the field of occupational exposures , capacity building for policy development and intervention projects to ensure gains in environment and health.
