Learning Outcomes

It is intended to provide the basic knowledge required in Forensic and Legal Medicine that any anthropologist must possess, so that during his professional practice he can obtain a holistic reading of human remains, that he learns to work in multidisciplinary teams and in the area of frontier with other sciences. That is, at the end of this Curricular Unit the student should be able to carry out an interdisciplinary reading of the human remains and to work in the frontier area with the other forensic sciences.

Syllabus

Thanatology: cadaverous phenomena, signs of death, verification and certification of death and its implications for society and for the individual. The external examination of the corpse, determination of the circumstances of death. Legal requirements for performing autopsies.

Forensic pathology: objectives, scope and limits of the forensic autopsy. Basic knowledge of forensic pathology: general forensic pathology; blunt force trauma; sharp force trauma; high velocity and blast traumas.

Basic knowledge of: Forensic Genetics; Toxicology; Histology; Imaging; Biomedical law.
