Non-guided Optical Transmission
Electrical and Computer Engineering
3rd Cycle Studies
Optical Transmission Systems. English.
10 hours of seminar, 15 hours of tutorial sessions.
Knowledge about the state of the art on optical transmission systems in the atmosphere and in the outer space close to earth.
After attending this curricular unit successfully, the students should have the scientific and technological knowledge required to design and develop those systems, and should be able to understand and follow up the scientific and technological evolution in this domain.
Transmission parameters in free space and in the earth atmosphere. Optical sources and transmitters. Modulation and coding techniques. Optical detectors and receivers. Terrestrial systems. Space systems.
