Seminar-like classes. Presentation and discussion of research papers.
Learning Outcomes
Students are expected to grasp the meaning of criminology in the wider context of criminal science, and know how criminological thought has evolved, highlighting the positivist paradigm (its endogenous and exogenous trends) and the critical, or formal instances of control, paradigm. Students must also grasp the impact of criminological trends (like victimology, abolitionism and restorative justice) on the political and criminal rhetoric as well as on the evolution of criminal law in general.
