Teaching Methods

The teaching methodology consists in a small number of seminaries, taught by the teacher for the introduction of the fundamental topics, complemented with a bibliographic survey by the students to deepen their knowledge about these subjects, being supported in this work by a set of tutorial classes.

Learning Outcomes

It is intended with this curricular unit to study the non-conventional electric machines as well as to deepen the knowledge about the conventional machines, namely the synchronous and asynchronous machines both in transient and asymmetric regimes. It is also intended to endow students with competences which allow them to simulate any electric machine for diagnostic and control purposes.

Work Placement(s)

No

Syllabus

Permanent Magnetic Synchronous Motors (PMSMs), Switched Reluctance Motors (SRMs), Brushless dc motors (BLDCs) and servo motors. Transient regimes of electric machines, including their asymmetrical operation. Behavior of the induction machine under the presence of faults. Modeling and simulation of electric machines for diagnostic and control purposes.
