Recommended Prerequisites

The pre-requisites of this course are those corresponding to the application for the PhD Steel and Composite Construction.

Teaching Methods

Theorectical classes (30 hours): presentation of the concepts and technologies associated to it.  Presentation of detailed aspects of technology and application exercises performed in class or lab. Students participate actively in the process of formation, being asked to present solutions to the problems posed. They are also asked to present and analyze the problems of its industrial enterprises. Occasionally students are invited to attend lectures by visiting specialists.

Tutorial classes (22.5 hours) will be to solve independent exercises and to answer questions.

Learning Outcomes

The aim of this course is to provide students with the theoretical basis for the safety of steel structures and composite steel and concrete structures in fire, practical exercises in accordance with the Eurocodes 1, 3 and 4, Part 1-2. Acquiring capabilities in synthesis and analysis, oral and written communication, problems solving, critic reflection, autonomous learning and practical application of theoretical knowledge.
