## Teaching Methods

The essential theoretical concepts that are approached in the theoretical classes will be presented simultaneously with the resolution of practical problems, as well as the use of equipment and software of global positioning systems by satellite. Students will accomplish a project in order to put into practice the knowledge they have acquired.

## Learning Outcomes

Students are expected to acquire elementary knowledge of physical and geometric geodesy and their interaction with other sciences.

The notion of geodesic reference system should be acquired in a solid way, as well as the other transformations between different reference systems, since they are recurrent concepts in the other disciplines of the specialization. Students should know and understand the basic concepts of drawing, observation, calculation and compensation of (planimetric, altimetric and three dimensional) geodesic networks either in the practical or theoretical aspect.

An application of geodesic techniques is done to control deformations in the fields of Civil Engineering and Earth Science, namely to control deformations of great works of Engineering, such as dams and bridges and the study of the tectonic plates movement.
