Instruments and methods: introduction to the interrelationship between architecture and archeology: language and models; Foundations.

Learning Outcomes

The role of Archaeology in the architectural design and in the transformation of the city through cultural positions, namely in the modern and contemporary archaeology era, born from the debate between conservation and transformation.

Syllabus

Ancient city / contemporary city: stories of a constitutive relationship for the western city;

city and archeology; the great European capitals: Rome, Athens, Istanbul; the case of Rome, from the unification of Italy to the present, with reference to the case of the forum; urban archeology and stratigraphic station: the projects for the valorization of excavations and archaeological discoveries; contemporary cultural policies related to urban archeology (the case of Merida, Beirut, etc.).
