Recommended Prerequisites

Knowledge of English Language and knowledge of architectural or archaeology design.

Teaching Methods

Master classes giving information, based on image projection. Seminars about specific topics by invited Scholars. Complementary seminar classes for debate and discussion.

Learning Outcomes

The role of Archaeology in the architectural design and in the transformation of the city through cultural positions, namely in the modern and contemporary archaeology era and born from the debate between conservation and transformation.

This course has the following learning outcomes: architectural and archaeologic culture, organizations and interpretation of information, and skills on critical thinking.

Syllabus

Themes: evolution of the relationship between archaeological discipline and projects of meaning of the ancient; ways of interpreting the ancient at different times: conflicts between historical values and artistic values, conflicts between use and conservation; evolution of the relationship between scientific meanings, protection and valorization of discoveries; interpretation of ancient traces in some study cases, the city walls between conservation practices and contemporary reinterpretations.
