Electric Energy Conversion, Power Systems Introduction

Teaching Methods

The course unit works with theoretical and theoretical-practical classes.

Theoretical classes are master classes with detailed presentation, using audiovisual means, of the concepts, principles and fundamental theories of the subject

Theoretical-practical classes are intended to solve practical exercises by the students, supervised by the professor. In these classes, it will also be given support to the preparation of a group work, which will consist in preparing a monograph on a previously assigned topic, and which will be presented by students in class.

Learning Outcomes

Know the different technologies for the electricity generation, including technologies for generation from renewable sources, for both large scale and distributed generation.

Understand the structure, planning and management of the power system, as well as aspects related to the integration of renewable energy in electricity generation.

Be able to evaluate power stations from a technical and economic point of view.
