Teaching Methods

The seminar draws on a wide range of methods and dididatic-pedagogical techniques, taking into account the objectives of each topic and the overall design of the course. At the beginning of every topic it is mainly used oral method of presentation since it is necessary to transmit information which is the theoretical basis which will boost knowledge application, independente research, and other tasks such as bibliometric analyses, critical review of papers, oral presentations, written documents preparation, among others.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this unit students should:

a) Know the main paradigms and current research trends in the field of geography;

b) Understand the diversity of data collection sources in geography;

c) Discuss different techniques and methodologies to be used in scientific research in geography;

d) Analyse conceptual frameworks and practical issues inherent to data acquisition, data analysis and interpretation of results;

e) Dominate multiscale analysis in research in geography and in land management and planning;

f)Produce scientific texts autonomously.

4) Qualitative methodology in Geography: nature, method, techniques and instruments;

5) Research in Physical Geography and Human Geography: "Old" Territories, "New" Geographies.
