Project in Applied Biology 1

Recommended Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of Biology acquired throughout the degree.

Teaching Methods

Teaching will involve tutorials with Supervisors and selflearning by the student. The percentage of each will vary, but it is expected that students rely more on selfknowledge as time progresses.

Learning Outcomes

The goal is that the student understands what is required in order to perform professional activities in a field of his/her choosing. The competencies to be acquired include:

-Research, selection, and critical reading of  relevant literature

-Planning strategies and activities in the field of choice, including the overcoming of constraints (time, conceptual issues, etc.) related to scientific research, technical work or science communication activities.

-Critical analysis and presentation of results (both oral and in writing)

In short: the goal is to train competent and autonomous Biologists, ready for professional duties at a B.Sc. level.

The Project can be carried out in the DCV, in other Departments of the FCTUC, in other Faculties, or in organizations devoted to RDI with a proper recognized protocol with DCV.

Syllabus

The syllabus will be specific according to the different Project topics each student chose. Supervisors and students will, to a large extent, create the syllabus.
