Teaching Methods

Theoretical-practical classes will be based on the oral presentation of themes of the course supported by slides and problem solving, where students can apply the concepts that have been taught. “Laboratory classes” will also be part of teaching procedures where students will have the opportunity of developing and applying models.

Learning Outcomes

The main goal will be to provide the students of knowledge in the area of transport modelling in order to understand the actual system and to analyse the impacts of new solutions:

  • To present to students the planning and research problems, in which modelling is used or can reasonably be used as a tool;
  • To give a general picture of the modelling techniques available, and to present the basic theoretical background of the techniques;
  • To provide the students with the capability to choose the most appropriate modelling technique for each modelling problem, taking time and cost restrictions and the data availability into consideration;
  • To provide the basic skills of using the most common modelling techniques, and to help students in finding more information on modelling. The more detailed information of the practical use of modelling technique is learned, when the models are developed and used in practice.
