Basic knowledge (both conceptual and technical) in Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology. English (reading level only).
Teaching Methods
The theoretical classes are an introduction/preparation to other assignments. In terms of the laboratory assignment, students are expected to use previously acquired knowledge for solving new problems. Students will be required a summary assignment based on a recent scientific article (written in English) concerning the subject to be studied. The individual assignment comprises a discussion of the mentioned article that should be presented both in writing and orally. The discussion of the various assignments should be integrated in each session.
Learning Outcomes
The student should apply previous knowledge in Cell and Molecular Biology to the more complex principles related to cellular differentiation and embryo development. Importantly, after completing the course the student should be able to critically propose experiments and methodologies to tackle new research problems, and be aware of the advantages and limitations of different model systems and techniques.
