SEMESTRIAL
6.0
Elective
1st Cycle Studies
Recommended Prerequisites
Molecular Biology, Genetics, Algae and Fungi.
Teaching Methods
All classes will be taught throughout the semester.
The theoretical and practical lessons will be taught with the use of computers (1 per 2 students) connected to the Internet:
1 - analysis of genomics and proteomics;
2 - integration and management database (MACOI), which must be submitted in writing and orally.
Tutorial support for answering questions and solving exercises. Support the preparation of the report and oral presentation of the project work.
Learning Outcomes
Taught to use the computer tools to solve biological problems, development of open source language programs, analysis of nucleotide or amino acid, with open source applications and also the use of different informatic tools for the construction of databases for biological cataloging. Apply the acquired theoretical and experimental knowledge to solving problems on specific biological area, using the respective informatic tools. Recognizing the potential of different experimental methodologies and learn to apply them effectively and objectively in different situations. Prepare, analyze and convey information clearly and coherently. Knowing which sources most suitable for research and resolve particular subject independently.
