Teaching Methods

Lectures, paper discussions, individual and group exercises, presentation of discussion of projects in the different fields covered in the syllabus. Evalution will be permanently ongoing with different sorts of methodologies, suggested by the teachers involved in each module.

Learning Outcomes

This course aims at providing basic knowledge to all students, especially those with less background in the field. Topics will include essential notions of contemporary Cell and Molecular Biology and other crucial aspects (Statistics, Communication skills). All students will be tutored in data gathering, analysis and discussion using recently published literature, in both group and individual exercises. They will also practice communicating and discussing, notably using English as a working language

Work Placement(s)

Syllabus

General knowledge of cell and molecular biology will de provided, as well as the basic tools in research methods, gathering, processing, evaluation and presentation of scientific data. Technological principles (both established and emerging) of the main techniques employed will be discussed, as well as their limitations. This knowledge will be essential for Experimental Biology and Biomedicine I and II.

The class will be organized in several intensive 3-10 day modules, with rotating lectures by all staff, plus foreign invited lecturers. The responsible lecturer will be in charge of organizing the modules and gathering grades obtained throughout.
