Teaching Methods

The work will be carried out in close collaboration with a supervisor that is responsible for providing students with help and guidance and the correct progress of the course. The dissertation thesis can be carried out either in an academic or in an academic-enterprise environment. In the later a supervisor in the enterprise is also necessary.

Evaluation is done in a public presentation. The examining committee normally consists of two professors from FCTUC plus his or her supervisor(s) and eventually an external examiner

Learning Outcomes

The main learning outcomes include the following ones: development of the capacity to undertake research/development work with a high degree of autonomy;  the consolidation of knowledge acquired throughout the training; and promoting  critical and creative analysis competencies aiming to analyze and understand an electrical and computer engineering problem and propose an adequate solution. The student must also develop skills in the areas of communication, research and writing of scientific documents.

The individual work to be performed, which may involve experimental research and /or simulation, will result in the preparation of a dissertation on a subject within the knowledge area of the graduate program.

Work Placement(s)
