Teaching Methods

The lectures are for the presentation of the syllabus, including the main concepts, approaches, theories, methodologies and some tools of the area.

The laboratory classes are for practical work including the analysis of educational software, the support to the design and development of a prototype of an educational application and to the design and development of an e-learning course.

Learning Outcomes

It is intended with this course that the student knows the different ways of using Information and Communication Technologies in Education and Training. It includes techniques, methodologies and tools for this particular use, as well as it should promote the building of skills to software and e-learning courses design and delivery.

INTRODUCTION: General considerations on the use of information and communications technologies in education and training.

EDUCATIONAL APPLICATIONS: Types; underlying learning theories and philosophies, contexts of use.

DEVELOPMENT OF EDUCATIONAL APPLICATIONS: Classical methodologies and constructivist methodologies, tools to support its development, authoring systems.

DISTANCE LEARNING: Introduction, Advantages and disadvantages; Adaptation to different audiences; platforms to support distance learning.
