Teaching Methods

Tuition is delivered both in theoretical (T) and theoretic-practical (TP) lectures. During practicals in lab (PL) exercises are made and students undertake course works that are carried out individually under the supervision of lecturers. Student assessment includes a practical component and a final written exam on theoretical aspects. The practical component consists of individual course works started off in lab and concluded by the students on their own time. Both practical and theoretical assessment components have equal weight towards the final mark.

Learning Outcomes

Main objectives are specified towards the creation, maintenance and usage of geospatial information systems applied to land management. Students are expected to get to know the different sorts of information that can be used towards land management as well as their sources. Students are also expected to get familiar with legal and practical aspects related to: real property information, land management municipal instruments, and creation of information to generate both land-cover and land-use maps. Students are also meant to learn how to create and process terrain models as well as how to extract useful information from them for various purposes. Finally, students come across some scientific decision support methods and learn how to use them applied to geospatial data.
