Teaching Methods

In Scientific Communication, task-based group activities are preferred. There is a continuous assessment based on student performance in the lectures (5%) and a written test (5%).

In the writing of the thesis proposal, a (tentative) supervisor is assigned as soon as possible in the beginning of the academic year, in accordance with the research interests expressed by the student in the selection interview.

During this time, the student reads articles and other scientific bibliography, and conducts research work in articulation with the supervisor. The student prepares a preliminary proposal (a one-page summary, in English), and gives an oral presentation of the on-going work in the beginning of the 2nd semester. The assessment consists of the public defense of the thesis project with a jury (90%). The defense has a duration of at most two hours, including an oral presentation by the candidate lasting up to 20 minutes.
