Teaching Methods
The teaching of this course unit is essentially based on an andragogic perspective. In other words, it will focus on the students’ expressed interests and on how such interests relate to those topics that internationally tend to be considered central to Analysis and Strategic Decision.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, students should be able to: (i) explain the role of strategic analysis in the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of strategy in public-private organizations; (ii) apply models and techniques for analyzing the environment and the organization (industry and portfolio analyses, resources, core competencies, SWOT/new SWOT); (iii) develop an integrated strategic diagnosis to support the definition of alternative courses of action; (iv) work in teams, lead decision-making processes, and communicate well founded strategic recommendations in writing and orally. In terms of learning outcomes, these objectives translate to: advanced knowledge in strategy and strategic analysis; skills in collecting, processing, and critically interpreting complex information; and competencies in autonomy, responsibility, and leadership in strategic decision-making contexts.
