Teaching Methods

Teaching: Lectures of the content defined in the program and practical classes with the use of calculation methods for solving problems associated with the theme of the course. Tutorial follow-up of the work to be performed by students.

Learning Outcomes

The fundamental objective of this course is to develop in students specific skills in forming and cutting processes of materials.

The aim is also to contribute to the development of the following generic skills in students: oral and written communication, problem solving, critical thinking and independent learning, adaptability to new situations, apply in practice theoretical knowledge and self-criticism and self-evaluation.

Introduction to the mechanical behaviour of materials;

Mechanical tests;

Mechanisms of plastic deformation of materials;

Metal forming technologies (theoretical and technological aspects): rolling, sheet metal forming, extrusion, wire drawing, forging; press braking; calendering

Theoretical aspects of metal cutting;

Technologies of mechanical cutting of materials: blanking; turning, milling, drilling, surface grinding; …

Finishing and surface integrity;

Cutting tools;

Cutting fluids;

Non-conventional metal cutting processes: Electric discharge machining, ultrasonic machining, electrochemical machining, water jet machining;

Control systems of machines: CN and CNC.
