Recommended Prerequisites

Previous knowledge of mathematics and physics.

Teaching Methods

The theoretical content of the course unit will be presented through lectures illustrated whenever possible with practical cases.

Students will asked about the topics taught in such a way as to guidel them to new knowledge. The lecturer will also work through exercises during these classes.

Students will work out exercises under the guidance of the lecturer duing theory-practical classes. A laboratory visit will be made to contact with test infrastructures and equipments.

Learning Outcomes

The main objectives of this CU are: to understand sound propagation phenomena, to apply national legislation on environmental noise and noise in buildings and to understand how different materials and certain solutions can be applied for noise control. In addition, students are expected to know the main standards used in environmental noise measurements and building acoustic measurements.

It is intended that students develop problem solving skills and acquire critical thinking skills in applying the knowledge gained in practical situations.

Work Placement(s)
