Compulsory
1st Cycle Studies
Recommended Prerequisites
Mathematical Analysis I, Mechanics I, Linear Algebra and Analytical Geometry.
Teaching Methods
Detailed presentation of the theory, accompanied by the resolution of illustrative examples and exercises by the teacher. Autonomous problem solving in which the students work out exercises and problems of theoretical and practical application with the guidance of the teacher.
Learning Outcomes
Traditionally, in the Civil Engineering courses the fundamental concepts of Solid Mechanics and Fluid Mechanics area teached in separate units, In contrast, in this curricular unit, the student is provided, in a unified manner, with the basic concepts of Solid and Fluid Mechanics, that will be the fudamental basis for the disciplines of the Structural Mechanics and Structures, Geotechnics and Hidraulic areas. In this way greater economy and language homogeneity is achieved in the learning proces of this study Cycle.
