Presentation of the subjects and discussion of case studies. Conferences delivered by environmental specialists (academics and professionals) to introduce the most challenging environmental issues.

Learning Outcomes

- knowlege about the different environmental issues covered by the Master, as well as about the main principles, concepts, methodologies and tools included in the Master and their application.

- knowlege about the profession of Environmental Engineer.

- knowlege about  the evolution of how environmental problems are tackled and about the relation environment/sustainable development.

- sensitivity to the challenging environmental problems.

Syllabus

The role of the course in the Master. Environmental Sciences/Environmental Engineering.

Main environmental challenges. Some relevant international agreements and landmarks (ONU Conferences, Limits to Growth- Club of Rome Report, Bruntland Commission, Agenda 21, Quioto Protocol).

Some relevant international agreements. EU and national environmental legislation.

Main environmental issues and threats. Environmental accidents: natural an man made accidents.

Management and regulation.
