Basic knowledge of finance and ability to read in English.
Teaching Methods
The teaching method will have several dimensions: lectures, case studies, industry notes and discussion of current public transactions. The theoretical fundamentals are presented in an expositive way, being later discussed with the students through practical cases and challenging the students to active and critical participation.
Learning Outcomes
The main objective of this curricular unit is to provide students with the necessary concepts, tools and financial products used in investment banking. They will develop knowledge of the main business activities of financing, investments and financial advisory services.
At the end of this unit, students should be able to:
- Identify the best investment banking solution for a specific transaction;
- Understand how investment banking supports clients in their financing activities;
- Identify major trends in the main segments of investment banking;
- Be comfortable to analyze and negotiate investment banking deals from universal players, local banks and boutiques.
