Teaching Methods

The methodology is based on an active learning of the trainee, through the appropriation of the contents and resources of support available in the platform and the accomplishment of the proposed activities.

• Independent individual work: reading, analyzing and processing information.

• Group work: discussion and analysis of practical cases.

For each module there is a scientific coordinator responsible for the dynamization of the teaching-learning process, for the trainee's involvement and its progression in the module, and for the clarification of doubts.

Learning Outcomes

This course aims to provide knowledge about the aging process, stressing the importance of the individual, society, lifestyle choices and understanding of aging in the biological, psychological context and health requirements for the optimization of life path that provides strategies to prevent frailty, physical and cognitive decline.

At the end of the course, the student is expected to acquire skills at the level of communication between integrated clinical services, caregivers and health professionals and, in the caregiver module, the knowledge of how to help treat the elderly with change in mobility, lodging, diabetes, cognitive / dementia, chronic pathology, pain, malnutrition and sleep disorders.

Syllabus

Structuring module

This module issues will be address to the area of Epidemiology, Biology and Pathophysiology of aging, Immune and Inflammatory Response in aging. The common chronic pathology of elderly and the benefits of exercise and healthy nutrition are also in this module topics to teach.

Module Pillars of Interdisciplinary (Medical, Caregiver and Technology)

The module of pillars of interdisciplinary will include topics in the area of: Adherence to Therapy and Polymedication, Prevention and Management of Falls, Prevention of Frailty and Physical and Cognitive Decline, integrated healthcare solutions and remote monitoring, Friendly Spaces of the Elderly

Caregiver Module

This module will address the importance of caregivers and family in the treatment of elderly with Mobility disability, Bedridden, Diabetes, Cognitive Deficit / Dementia, Chronic pathology, Pain, Malnutrition, Disorders of sleep and Constipation.

Assessment
• Formative evaluation - self-assessment test of knowledge; • Summative evaluation - continuous activities defined for each module. Summative activities (100%) materialize through forums, works and tests, being assigned a quantitative classification, expressed in a scale of 0 to 20 values. For approval, the student must obtain a minimum of 10 values in each activity: 100.0%
