1st Cycle Studies
Recommended Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of chemistry, physics and mathematics from secondary school.
Teaching Methods
Practical lab classes; during the classes students have to register the observations in lab notebooks. In addition, students fill a lab report in order to consolidate the knowledge acquired during experimental work fulfilment.
Learning Outcomes
The objective of this curricular unit is to provide to students an introduction to classical analytical techniques and unitary operations that are essential to good practices in chemical laboratories.
The student must acquire skills in applying chemical knowledge in the interpretation of experimental data using graphical and statistical methods; recognizing and implementing good lab practices for acquiring experimental results with quality; safe manipulation of chemical substances, taking into account their physical and chemical properties, recognizing dangers in their use; observation and measurement of chemical properties, changes and transformations, making reliable registrations in lab notebooks; elaborating objective reports.
