Teaching Methods
The curricular unit follows an interactive methodology within the classroom, based on individual, group and autonomous work by the student. Given the relevance of the case study analysis in the context of global interventionism, as well as of the relationship between models and practices, the periodical evaluation assessment includes: participation, presentation and an essay.

Case study: European Union (EU)
- Introduction. European intervention model: legal and institutional framework, history and evolution.
- The European intervention model after the Treaty of Lisbon.
- Motivations for European intervention: mapping different member-states.
- Decision-making processes: analysis of the role of different member-states.
- Instruments and practices in the field.
- Mapping and analysis of the inter-institutional relations of the EU with other international organizations, such as the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, or the African Union.
- Critical and comparative analysis of different European missions in various territories/countries.
- Discussion of the impact of the European model of intervention. Conclusions.
