Recommended Prerequisites

IIt is highly desirable that students have acquired notions of anatomy, physiology, pathology and imaging. Some of the information and training given here has already been taught in previously in the curricular unit of Imaging , although knowing a greater applicability in the medical and surgical clinical modules.

The existence of an Imaging DVD can prove to be a good supportive tool, as well as the remaining recommended bibliography.

Teaching Methods

Theoretical and practical classes:

Taught presentially.

Teaching by problem solving and discussion topics.

Handling of US machine and probes.

Probe positioning for recognition of norml anatomical patterns.

Real-time leraning through practical exercises.

Learning Outcomes

Students should be able to:

-Know the physical principles , benefits and risks of ultrasound

-Describe he main indications and limitations of this imaging modality

-Identify the imaging anatomy in ultrasound

-Describe image changes recognizing their fundamental pathophysiological mechanisms

-Propose ultrasound examinations based on clinical history

Objectives at the level of clinical skills:

-Know to use ultrasound as a diagnostic tool , developing skills for the correct prescription

Objectives at the level of attitudes:

-Understand the xperience felt by the patient in a given exam
