Teaching Methods

Theoretical Lectures (T)

The theoretical lectures introduce concepts, topics and the methodologies of Environmental Management. Some classes will include seminars on emergent EM topics delivered by invited speakers.

Pratical (T-P) classes.

In the TP classes, exercises and mini works will be done and case studies will be dicussed, based on reports and scientific papers. A study visit will take place.

Learning Outcomes

The main objective of the curricular unit Environmental Management is to introduce concepts and methodologies for implementing an integrated and multidisciplinary perspective for the management of environmental problems, taking into account a life-cycle perspective. Students should develop critical thinking in the analysis of complex and multidisciplinar problems, where there are potential conflicting interests and uncertainty. The unit is structured in a total of five chapters, particular emphasis being given not only to the theoretical aspects of the methodologies and tools, but also to the practical application and implementation of strategies to assess and reduce the environmental impacts associated with products, processes and companies.
