2nd Cycle Studies - Mestrado
Recommended Prerequisites
Students must have a theoretical knowledge of the concepts of violence, peace, development and humanitarianism, as well as a critical awareness of the actors, processes and dilemmas present in the dynamics of global interventionism.
Teaching Methods
The seminar will be organised in modules and will consist of debates on the different topics and practical experiences in the three fundamental areas: peace, development and humanitarianism.
Learning Outcomes
The aim of this seminar is for students to articulate and confront the theoretical and conceptual knowledge acquired in the other seminars of the course through (1) contact and dialogue with invited experts with practical professional experience in the areas of peace, development and humanitarianism; (2) critical analysis of documentaries on these topics; and (3) simulations and group work that allow students to put this knowledge into practice. To this end, the seminar includes both more mainstream and institutional experiences and voices, as well as more critical views of the modus operandi of global interventionism, allowing students to base their analyses on the divergent and/or convergent perspectives presented and discussed in class.
