Teaching Methods

Theorethical lectures to expose the course concepts. Practical classes to solve production mamagement exercises. Management games to apply the concepts. Study visits to companies twhere the taught production planning and control concepts are implemented.

Learning Outcomes

With this course the students should be able to take production control and planning decision since the definition of a master plan (medium term planning) to operations sequencing (short term planning). After completing this course the student should be able to:

1. Understand the competitivness pillars (quality, costs, flexibility and time) and their relationship to production management;

2. To know the main production management concepts, their advantages and limitations, and to choose the most adequate concept to a given production system;

3. Be able to define operations sequencing in single machines, paralllel machines, flow-shops and job-shops.
