To know the basic constituents of the cell, the cell organisation, the structure and function of the main structures, types of membrane transport and metabolic processes.

Levels of organisation of living organisms. Molecular and physicochemical basis of life. Cell-structure/function. Membrane transport
Metabolic processes. Anabolism and catabolism. Substrate-level and oxidative phosphorylation. Catabolism in the presence of oxygen
Animal tissues (epithelial/muscle/nervous/connective) and systems (digestive/cardiorespiratory/excretory/reproductive)-structure/function
Plant tissues: structure/function. Primary and secondary meristem
Genetics and hereditarity-hereditarrityy factors and genetic information. Hereditarity molecular genetics/chemistry. Mutations. Applications of genetics and bioethical issues.
Microorganisms-bacteria and viruses (classification, structure, life cycle). Interaction of microorganisms with other living beings. Intervention of microorganisms in biogeochemical cycles. Pathogenic microorganisms and infectious diseases.
Immune system and immunity. Types of immune response. Immunological reactions. Dysfunctions of the immune system.
